Second sterilisation

Today we had our second sterilisation, and honestly, I’m really happy with how it went.

We had 27 animals signed up. In the end, 23 showed up. And honestly? 23 is a lot. 23 animals whose lives just changed in a real and lasting way.

There was a good mix of dogs and cats, which felt great to see. The community is engaging, people are bringing their animals, and that trust means something.

The moment that got me the most though, was picking up a dog I’ve seen basically every day on my way to school. A mum with puppies, living right by the road I always pass. We drove out to get her and a male from the same spot. I don’t know why, but that one hit different. Because now every time I drive past there, I’m going to see her and just know. Know that I actually did something for her. That feels really good.

This time, everything also ran so much more smoothly than the first one. I could feel the difference. I’m figuring things out slowly — how to prepare, how to organise, how to make the day actually work. You learn so much just by doing it.

Little by little. But we’re getting there.
