Meeting BAWA — and a step we didn’t expect.

On the 4th of May, we sat down with BAWA, and honestly, it was probably one of the most important meetings we’ve had so far for the Bali Street Paws Project.

It went really well. Better than I expected going in.

They were so helpful and generous with everything they knew. By the end of it, it was clear that there’s real potential to do a lot more sterilisations together — more than I had even imagined.

They also explained how we could organise sterilisation events through the head of village — the kepala desa — with their support. For us, that’s huge. Like, genuinely a really big step that opens up so much more than what we’ve been able to do on our own.

With BAWA behind us on that, I actually think we can pull something like that off properly. We’re looking at after summer as a target for a first event done that way. Fingers crossed.

That same weekend, BAWA had an adoption day, and we went along to see how they ran it — just to get a feel for what our future events could look like if we end up working together more. It was really useful to see it all in person.

There’s still a lot to figure out. But this month felt like something shifted. Like things are actually moving now.
