Collecting the Dogs

March 29, 2026

On the morning of our first sterilisation day, we spent hours going door to door, collecting the dogs ourselves.

It was one of those days that stays with you.

Some of the dogs were living in a rubbish dump, surrounded by puppies. Others technically had families, but were in worse condition than some of the dogs living on the street. In a few places, owners refused to let us sterilise their dogs, even with abandoned puppies right outside their doors.

That was one of the hardest parts. Seeing how normal this has become for some people, even when the consequences are right in front of them.

That day showed me how complicated this work really is. It’s not just about treatment or transport or funding. It’s also about trust, communication, and trying to change things in places where suffering has become part of everyday life.

I came home that night feeling different. Tired, overwhelmed, and more certain than ever that this work matters.

Some things are just impossible to unsee. 🐾
